Expanding the Usability of Open-Authentication Standards

The implementation of information security solutions, specifically pertaining to identity and access management, is similar to untying a Gordian Knot – a problem seldom attempted by the masses but rather braved by organizations such as Nebulas Tree. More often than not, these solutions support limited authentication standards such as OIDC, OAuth 2, and SAML 2, which in turn are not recognized by the legacy applications. With a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the above authentication standards, Nebulas Tree helped the organization implement an access management solution, whereby they oversaw the implementation of 20 web applications for this client, which support either SAML 2.0 or OIDC. The company also assisted the food and gateway service provider comprehensively understand how these open standards can be implemented into their code base and operated correctly. Most vendors were only limited to a superficial understanding of traditional AD or RDBMS-based authentication methods. As a result, Nebulas Tree conducted numerous workshops and offered demos and live examples of other applications implemented, ensuring that they could effortlessly go beyond their initial target of 20 applications. Through this collective effort, Nebulas Tree indeed solved the Gordian Knot of implementing opensource IAM solutions, validating its credibility within the industry.

Nebulas Tree has partnered with Secret Double Octopus, a software company specializing in password-less authentication. Partnering with them allows Nebulas Tree’s clients to log in to their corporate laptops using the secret double octopus mobile application (push notification) and authenticate any corporate applications integrated with any SSO solution via Kerberos. Employees are unburdened from the need to remember complicated passwords, while the security issues associated with sharing and reusing passwords are reduced substantially.
